About Us
OUR STORY
I am Rupam, I co-founded MoneyWiseSmart along with my rockstar business partner, Fun Liang. MoneyWiseSmart was born out of our shared passion for finding and researching ‘wonderful businesses’. When we started investing many years back, we never had access to a well organized & comprehensive framework to guide us. The kind of things I used to do in the name of ‘investing’ still makes me cringe (along with getting disapproving looks from Fun Liang and our other team members). For example:
-
Investing based on ridiculous stock tips received from different unqualified sources.
-
Rushing into the markets when they were going up, and panic selling my stocks when they were going down.
-
Getting fleeced by my brokers, bankers and financial advisors with ‘hidden costs’, and was falling for one bad investment product after another.
-
Refreshing stock prices every few minutes and with every market crash, I was getting derailed financially and emotionally.
However, once I realised the big mistakes I was making, I decided to invest in massive self education. Spent many years burning the midnight oil, first unlearning and then properly educating myself about the right ways to think and go about investing. Results started showing in ways that were beyond my imagination. Had I done it right the first time, it would not have taken me so long and it would have been a lot less painful.

Fun Liang got away with much fewer investment mistakes than I did.

We finally decided to team up and create something that we would ourselves gladly pay for: A comprehensive investing framework, that would provide actionable steps about ‘value investing’, so that our subscribers do not end up in the same place from where I had to pull myself out. This framework will help our subscribers to become ‘wealthy investors’ and grow their portfolios along with their passive investment incomes, guiding them on their path to financial freedom.
This is our ‘Why’.
Our Team

Rupam Deb
Co-Founder
I am a ‘digital nomad’ and a full time investor. Investing for me is however not just about money. ‘Value Investing’ and ‘Compounding’ are a way of life, a religion that I seek to follow.
In my previous role, I served as a Group Director & Executive Management Team member of a LSE Listed (FTSE 100) online gaming business. I was responsible for the largest business unit, managing revenues of over a Billion Dollars .
When I am not researching businesses, I can be found sitting in my favourite cafe and working on my blog or reading and reflecting on my favourite books. I live in Singapore, and enjoy backpacking in some remote places around the world.

Madhvee Deb

I am the Creative Director and a balancing act for the MoneyWiseSmart team, that is otherwise mostly busy deep diving into research and analysis. My voice plays a crucial role in supporting the investing education mission of MoneyWiseSmart. I am a visual artist with a keen interest in digital marketing. My job starts where the left brains of the rest of the team end and I ensure that the ideas and investment concepts are communicated effectively to our subscribers.

When I am not busy expanding the reach of our offerings and the MWS philosophy, I like creating art, traveling and spending time with my family. After my Masters in Fine Arts from Goldsmith’s College of Art (Lasalle College of The Arts, Singapore), I have been involved in several solo and group exhibitions Internationally.

Fun Liang Chia
Co-Founder
I am an avid value investor. After graduating from the National University of Singapore with a first-class honours in Economics, I discovered my passion for investing. My learning continued with extensive reading about Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, Peter Lynch and the likes, and I have never looked back ever since. Nothing excites me more than identifying and analysing great businesses. I spent several years with a NYSE-listed consulting firm, dealing with corporate finance and disputes advisory, initially based in Singapore and then as a Director in the Melbourne office.
Driven by my passion for investing and bitten by the entrepreneurship bug, I co-founded MoneyWiseSmart. I feel very excited to be able to create this wonderful platform for analysing great businesses. It is very fulfilling at the same time to see our subscribers progress on their journey of lifelong compounding, using the framework we created in MoneyWiseSmart.

Guest Coach
I have always been interested in Capital Markets and I remember I started investing in stocks during my engineering college, IIT Kharagpur in India, incidentally which I happen to share with Rupam. However as everything goes, it comes with a journey of its own. Plenty of success and equally lots of mistakes but each one providing an education and experience to be better next time.

I have worked in the capital markets sector for nearly all my working life in the area of technology and operations which gives me the view from both sides of the business. I have worked in Citibank’s Warrants and Equity Derivatives departments before establishing my own technology business in the field of electronic trading which became part of what is now known as Itiviti. Having left corporate work, nowadays I actively manage my own family office funds, investing and also trading equities, bonds, commodities, options, futures, and forex.

I am based in London, UK and love to travel the world. I enjoy sailing, gardening, poetry and music, and one of my hobbies is to make my own wine from a grapevine I planted on the south facing wall of my London home.
